Use Brian runs on credits. One credit is roughly one Pro chat message; the tier menu lets you spend fewer credits per message for routine work, or more for premium reasoning. Billing is monthly and scoped to a workspace, not a user.

Plan ladder

Four plans. Every new workspace starts with a 30-day Pro trial; after that, hosted Use Brian needs a paid plan (or self-host the open-source version). The plans differ only in monthly credit allocation. There is no per-seat fee. Inviting teammates to a workspace never changes the bill.

The tier menu

Each message costs credits based on the tier you pick in the chat header. Standard is the cheap workhorse, Pro is the default, Max is the premium tier. Background work (extraction, embeddings, classifiers) always runs on Standard and is bundled into the message price (you are never charged separately for it).

MCP tool calls and brain memory operations use the same lightweight memory-op price. This covers external-agent recall, write, and note operations without running the full chat loop.

Extra usage pack

$100 / 2,500 credits

When you run out of credits before the cycle ends, further messages are automatically served on the Standard tier for the rest of the billing period; nothing is blocked and feature access is unchanged. To restore full speed, the workspace owner can buy a one-time extra usage pack ($100 for 2,500 credits) that applies to the current billing cycle, or upgrade the plan (the better deal if you need more every month). We never bill usage automatically.

Free trial

Every new workspace gets a 30-day Pro trial (1,000 credits/month, full tier menu). No credit card required to start. After the trial, the workspace pauses until you pick a paid plan: your data stays intact and exportable, but assistant compute stops. Prefer not to pay? Self-host the open-source version. The first 25 accounts at launch receive a 90-day variant of the same trial instead.

Per-workspace billing

Each workspace is its own billing entity. One account can own multiple workspaces, each with its own plan, credit pool, and members. Inviting teammates to a workspace does not change the bill; there is no per-seat fee. Heavy multi-context users (consultants serving multiple clients, founders running two unrelated companies) create extra workspaces, each billed independently.
